''ANTARCTICA'' The White Continent!!!! Antarctica was first discovered in 1820, but the actual exploration began in the 20th centuary. It remains frozen throughout the year. Many countries have played a very important role in it's discovery, they have set up many weather and observations stations there, but U.S.A. has taken the lead because of the discovery of a city, McMurdo,where about 1,000 people stay for about seven months. It is extremely cold there throughout the year, scientist stay there during the summer months and come back in the winter months. The lowest winter temperature recorded in the South Pole is-95 degree celcius.The Queen Maud Range divides the continent into two equal parts. Some scientists belive that there are many large treasures of valuable resources found there. Antarctica has about 90% of the worlds ice.Asmall fish called ''Krill'' is found in plenty. Iwish that for once even Icould go there.
